Billingham Girls 3 v Aycliffe U16 Girls 2
The girls arrived at a very cold, very wet Billingham to play a team in the mix to win the league. Billingham had early chances but the girls defended well. Then as Aycliffe grew into the game a superb through ball from Morgan splits the defence and Hattie sticks it into the bottom corner. Aycliffe were putting in blocks to stop Billingham having any free shots but an unlucky bounce and Billingham equalise before half time, 1-1. As the rain got heavier the girls were still battling but Billingham scored from close range. Then from a tight angle they get a 3rd, but the game wasn’t over. First a superb double save from Laila kept us in the game, 5 mins later Hattie drives past the full back and gets a cross in, before being clattered, and Ruby heads home. It was Billingham now looking for the final whistle. Aycliffe drove forward and a shot from Hattie curls past the post, as the final whistle blew.
Hebburn 0 – Aycliffe U12 Girls 2
The girls played excellent football, battling against the wind in the first half was a challenge. The passing was great and making runs off the ball was a lot better. Hebburn could not manage a shot on target due to our defence who were solid covering each other, allowing our midfielders to push up the pitch. Safiye, in goal, had not much to do, but deserves a mention as it’s the hardest position to play in very wet and windy conditions, but when called upon she was alert. Goals today Bailey and Freya, POTM – Chloe.
Aycliffe U12’s Eagles 1 v Hetton Juniors 1
Ridiculous conditions at The Oakleaf, windy, wet and extremely cold. The Eagles really struggled first half playing against the wind and couldn’t get the ball up field. Hetton took the lead with a good goal. 0-1. HT. Second half Aycliffe were more attacking but despite their best efforts and plenty of shots they couldn’t find the net until awarded a penalty for a hand ball. Kaiden stepped up and smashed the ball past the Hetton keeper, 1-1. The boys were really starting to feel the cold and trying to run, but it was very difficult for both teams and the final score remained 1-1. MOTM went to Will.
FC Hartlepool v Aycliffe U10’s Eagles
The Eagles started well, scoring within the first minute as Evan controlled the ball and fizzed it past the keeper. A minute later, 2 up as Riley played a perfect cross to Krystian who smashed it past the keeper. However, Hartlepool hit back with 3 goals before HT. Then Aiden passed to Jack who shot, parried by the keeper but Dan knocks in the rebound. Next, Jack sprints forward and scores but Hartlepool again applied the pressure and got a goal back to square the match. Some great play led to Aiden picking the ball up and he hammered it into the net to win the game.
MOM Evan who had a fantastic game.
