Redcar Athletic v U11 Eagles. Evenly matched first half, the Eagles took just 5 minutes to break the deadlock in the second half, but a resilient and well drilled Redcar wrestled their way back into the game scoring two in quick succession, with time running out the Eagles continued to push forward with wave after wave of probing attacks until finally equalising, goals from Tarek and Faris.
Cleveland Juniors 1 v U16 Girls 6. An outstanding performance from the girls, against a team who beat us 5-2 at home a month previously. Aycliffe dominated the game displaying huge improvements after working extremely hard in training in recent weeks, taking three points for the third week running. Goals from Chloe Gibson, 2 from Ebony Newman, Kiera-Leigh Barnes, Emma Curry and Leah Cooper sealed a very satisfying win.
U16 Eagles 1 v Darlington Young Bulls 1. A great game from two very good sides. The visitors opened the scoring in the first half but Aycliffe equalised in the second half to share the points.
U7 Eagles v Hartlepool St Francis. A difficult game against a good Hartlepool team. The boys worked hard all game and showed some great moments. Goals from Luke, Austin and Zac were just not enough to get the draw. Each week the boys are showing more and more improvement.
Trimdon v U8 Eagles. Hard close game on a very heavy muddy pitch. Two defeats to Trimdon last season meant we knew we would be facing a tough game today. However, a fine performance by the whole team gave us the win. Benjamin K providing a very solid defensive line and goals from Thomas F and Rogan R sealing the victory. A quiet game for Freddie in goal, but man of the match for key saves at key times.
U13 Angels 3 v Boldon 2. Another fantastic game. Watching the Angels play in this league has produced one great game after another. Every week is competitive and the results are getting tighter. We took the lead three times in this game and showed great character. Goals from Poppy, Evie and Romilly. Star Players: Charli & Faith.
U9 Wildcats v Hebburn. Fantastic performances from all the girls, despite being two down at half-time, they played some great football in the first half. Slick passing & movement, but just unlucky in front of goal. They built on that in the 2nd half to deservedly get back into the game and share the spoils, with Millie & Brooke (assist Alice R) scoring. Cracking game. POTMs: Millie & Georgia.
U13 Girls 2 v Washington 2
Aycliffe started brightly with a couple of good chances before Payton converted a Pippa lofted ball. HT 1-0. We conceded 2 sloppy goals inside the 6 yard box, 10 minutes into the second half, but bounced back to score in the last 5 minutes of the game from Payton again to draw 2-2 against top of the league. POTM: Charlotte.
U14 Girls 3 v Cleveland Hall 2. The girls were enthusiastic throughout and worked hard for the team. Aycliffe created most of the chances and looked the most dangerous first half. The pass from midfield to create our first goal was outstanding, exactly what was asked of them before the game. Second half was more even, Cleveland managed to score twice but so did Aycliffe.
Winlaton 1 v U14 Girls 2 (Sunday). Games against Winlaton are always tough and usually close with today being the 6th time we have faced each other this season. Charli opened the scoring, firing hard and low into the bottom corner. Then, Charli drove down the right wing before sending a speculative effort into the box. The ball beat everybody including the ‘keeper dropping into far corner. HT 0-2. With 15 minutes to go Winlaton won the ball on the edge of our area and fashioned an opportunity which they took well.
Layken, then made some outstanding saves to secure the points. Coaches: Layken, Players: Isobel.
Whickham 0 v U12 Girls 6. Although the final result was very commanding, the girls didn’t have everything their own way. Whickham played a solid game and the girls had to dig deep to score all their goals and keep a clean sheet. Cold, wet and muddy but loved every minute. Coaches: Charlotte. Players: Imogen.
