Seaton United 2 v Aycliffe U13 Eagles 2
Tough game against a side who have only lost one game this season. The Eagles started well and were rewarded when Adam crossed into the box for Jake to score. The game continued to be end to end and Seaton were awarded a free kick which was converted. HT 1-1.
A drop ball was awarded to The Eagles which ended up with Olly 1v1 with the keeper, finishing beautifully into the bottom corner. As two players were lost due to injury The Eagles were now down to ten men for the rest of the game. The Eagles battled so hard but Seaton managed to get a goal back. FT 2-2. MOTM: Liam.
Aycliffe U18 Girls 3 v Boro Rangers 0
First game for the girls since the first Saturday in December and the visitors are battling at the top of the league and a team we haven’t beaten. However, today the girls were on the top of their game. A tight first half but the only clear chance fell to Hattie who scored, HT 1-0. We knew Boro Rangers would start strong to get back into the game, but we held firm not letting them settle. Then Morgan breaks into the box and, from a tight angle, smashes the ball over the goalkeeper. Boro hit the bar from a free kick and then a scramble in the box is hacked off the line by Bethany and the danger is cleared. We needed to put the game to bed and Hattie obliged giving the keeper no chance. FT 3-0. If we play like this every week it is going to be an interesting second half of the season.
Aycliffe U12 Yellows 2 v Rutherford AFC 2
First half we were slow out of the blocks and conceded in the first ten minutes. We were having plenty of the ball just couldn’t find the final pass to convert our possession. A few half chances and a fine save by the keeper from a curling, Pippa shot towards the top corner prevented us finding an equaliser. The final touch of the first half saw Rutherford go 0-2 up at half time. Early in the second half the girls were rewarded when Pippa played Amy through on the right, she took it past a defender and when through one on one kept her composure and slotted past the keeper. 1-2. The equaliser came when the ball bounced high and over Amy’s shoulder just outside the 18-yard box. Amy didn’t hesitate and caught the ball sweetly on the half volley high into the net. We kept the pressure up, getting in the right spaces, however the third goal just didn’t arrive. FT 2-2.POTM: Pippa.
Aycliffe U10 Eagles v Darlington 21st All Stars
A tight game but the deadlock was finally broken by Aycliffe as Oliver scored the first followed by Faris and Lucas. However, Allstars began to assert some pressure and despite valiant resistance and some spectacular saves they scored four goals to win the game, certainly a tale of two halves. MOM: Faris.
Aycliffe U13 Girls 7 v Pools Youth 6
The game was very physical and the girls had to show what they were about. Passing and team work played a massive part in the game. Throughout the game there was only ever one or two goals in it. It looked like Hartlepool were going to come away with the 3 points when they scored a couple of quick goals, five minutes from the end of the game and Aycliffe were chasing the game but we were playing some good football and looking dangerous on the attack. We managed to get the game back to 6-6 and Aycliffe were on the front foot. With just seconds to go, through lots of Aycliffe pressure and some great team play, Aycliffe smashed home the winning goal. Goals: Freya x 4, Safiye x 2, Tilly. POTM: Evie.
Aycliffe U10 Wildcats v Bishop Auckland Girls
The girls started the early attacks and strong challenges against a physical side. Sofia made some fine saves. From a throw in the defender handled the ball for a penalty which Lucy converted However, with three minutes left, Bishop scored.
