Readers will recall we challenged the Council’s policy on helping markets in the county, ensuring that any money put aside to help should be distributed evenly between all markets and not just those administered by the County Council.
This was accepted, yet an article promoting markets in the Council magazine omitted Newton Aycliffe. We reminded them of their pledge and received the following response:
“Durham County Council has developed a strategy for markets and possible improvements that could be made in the future. The basis of the article you refer to was the markets that Durham County Council manages.
Due to the number of markets within the County, it was not possible to include all markets (ie the DCC ones and all other markets within County Durham) in this promotional literature.
However, we would of course be very happy to work with you to seek ways to promote Newton Aycliffe market in the future.
