At last month’s meeting Carl Robinson gave a very interesting talk about some of the events and his duties during his time as the Mayor of Great Aycliffe Town Council. His experiences were varied and amusing, from multiple afternoon teas and dog shows to the more serious role as fundraising for his chosen charity – All Disabilities Matter. Carole, his wife, is a member of the WI and was there to share her experiences.
Our monthly book club is continuing to be popular, with a variety of novels provided by Durham Library Services. This month a number of members visited Raby Castle and had lunch at the new Vinery cafe which was followed by a chance to see the lovely new landscaped gardens, followed by retail therapy in the gift shop. There was a fabulous evening out to see Sister Act at the Hippodrome in Darlington.
