The UTC South Durham appeared at their first public outing since opening its doors to the first wave of 150 students back in September 2016. The three day event organised by the University of Durham “Celebrate Science”, started on the 25th October and both staff and students at the University Technical College provided a stand which involved year 10 and 12 students explaining the science behind a host of short demonstrations with a wow factor. The free event included activities, workshops, experiments and lectures, all celebrating science skills. Something the UTC specialises in alongside Engineering, Technology and Maths. Jak Heslop, Faculty Director at the UTC said “Both our year 10 and 12 students attended the event and did a fantastic job of engaging with young children and sharing their passion of Science.  I join the many others who congratulate them on their fantastic work”. Students were Arianna Robinson, Jess Winkworth, Kody Davison, Ellie Forrest and Phillipa Walton. The event was organised by Durham University, held on Palace Green outside the cathedral, and there were well over 2200 members of the public attended.
