It was a beautiful hot and sunny afternoon on Saturday 12th July that six Aycliffe Tri Club members took to Ripon Race Course for the annual “Black Sheep” Olympic Distance Triathlon.
This popular event saw almost 900 triathletes tackle the 1500m open water swim, 40k bike and 10k run course. First home for the club was Graham Atkins in 2hrs 37mins followed closely by Rob Cherrie in 2hr 40mins and Gary Smith in 2hr 49mins.
The ladies of the club came in with Melanie Rowland leading the way in 2hr 55min, Wendy Bake in 3hr 06mins and Andrea Jones in 3hr 29min. All the club triathletes enjoyed the well organised event and vowed to be back next year.
Racing earlier in the month Gary Smith entered the inaugural Catterick Triathlon, this was a sprint distance race which Gary completed in 1hr 12min a fantastic time for his first event.
