From auditions, to regional lives, onto live area semi-final on Saturday 19th November (2 days after her 19th Birthday)
Shanaya Atkinson competed at Dewsbury Town Hall. Entrants Travelled from Newcastle, Sheffield, Glasgow, Nottingham with Shanaya from Newton Aycliffe to sing for one of only three places in the Grand Final. In true Diva style, Shanaya sang ‘Listen’ by Beyonce and the audience were on their feet, some reduced to tears, from this heartfelt, passionate, powerful performance. When the results were announced “in no particular order” Mum, Belinda (Social Learning Mentor at Sugar Hill Primary School), Gran Sheila and Grandad John Atkinson (of C R Atkinson & Sons) cried tears of joy, hugged each other knowing this result could potentially give Shanaya the opportunity to live her dream and sing for a living.
