The Northumberland and Durham Swimming Championships were held at Sunderland Aquatic Centre on the 7th and 8th February.Representing Sedgefield 75 ASC were Mathew Bradley, Niall Coulthard, Peter Golightly, Zak Hodgkinson, Hannah Featherstone, Jessica Hall and Rebecca Hall. They competed in seventeen events and made a total of thirteen finals
Niall had an outstanding weekend taking gold in the 200 Freestyle and silver in both the 100 Breaststroke and the 50 Freestyle in the twelve year age group. Mathew took bronze in the 100 Breast and was fourth in the 200 FS and 6th in the 100 Backstroke in the Open events
Zak was reserve finalist in the 50 Back stroke in the fifteen year age group
Jessica Hall won silver in the 50 backstroke and sixth in the 50 Freestyle and was placed tenth in the 100 Breaststroke in the twelve year age group.
Rebecca Hall was placed seventh in the 100 Breaststroke in the fourteen year age group Hannah Featherstone took the bronze medal in the 800 FS in the Open event.
From a coaching perspective the results were very good but what was most pleasing was that all of the swimmers improved their times going from heat to final. Every one is looking forward to the next championship on the 28th February and the 1st March.
