Aycliffe swimmer Mathew Bradley has just received notification the times he set for the 100 and 50 meters Breast Stroke earlier in the year have been ratified and are new County Records.
The previous record times were set by Darren Wigg, City of Newcastle ASC, twenty years ago. Darren is now the ASA Physiotherapist and works with the club on a regular basis.
The new record times are 50 meters Breast stroke. Long Course. 30:60 and for the 100 meters Breast stroke Short Course 1:05:82.. A truly great achievement by an outstanding athlete.
The following swimmers competed in the Chester le Street Open Gala on the 26th and 27th April. Hayley Bradley, Kate Carmichael, Katelyn Craig, Lauren Chatt, Mason Jacques, Mathew Bradley, Viven Alwis, Netanya Alwis and Zac Hodgkinson. They competed in a total of 11 Finals. 5 Gold. 3 Silver 4th and 2in 6th place
Hayley won gold in the 100 and 50 Breast Stroke and silver in the 200 IM. She was 4th in the 50 FS. Mason won gold in the 100 Backstroke the 100 FS and the 50 FS. He took silver in the 50 Fly
Mathew won silver in the 200 Buterfly. Zac was placed 6th in both the 50 Backstroke and the 100 Butterfly. His time of 1 min:12 secs was his qualifying time for the North Eastern Regional Championships. Kate, Katelyne, Lauren, Natanya and Viven all put in great performances. Although they missed out on the finals they all swam personal best times and did the club proud.
