Sedgefield Water Polo Club players have recently represented other clubs in the National U14 Age Groups (NAGS) competition at the Manchester Aquatic Centre.

Girls

Poppy, Jessica and Ella played for City of Sheffield and came away with a very well deserved silver medal. City of Sheffield battled their way to the final after defeat by Newton Abbott 3-13, winning against Otter Futura 16-0 in the group games. A quarter final against Cheltenham gave City of Sheffield a 12-2 victory. The semi-final was a close affair against Otter with City of Sheffield running out winners 8-5. The final was a repeat of the first match of the day against Newton Abbott. The team from the South West proving to strong with a 11-3 victory.

Boys

Ben, Ryan and Matthew played for Rotherham and came away in 5th place. All the groups were tough and to proceed to the medal rounds the team needed a group top place, with the crunch match being against Watford and unfortunately this was the first match of the day. Watford held on for a 4-3 victory in a very tight match. Next up was Newton Abbott with Rotherham controlling the game to take an 8-4 victory. This placed Rotherham in the 5th – 8th pace play-off. First match against Cheltenham was a comfortable victory for Rotherham 7-5. This lead to the final match of the day against Nova Centurions with Rotherham falling short with a 8-10 loss.

On behalf of Sedgefield Water Polo Club, we are very proud that our players are being recognised for their talents by other clubs and that they are showing great team spirit by working with other clubs to gain valuable experience for their future sporting careers.
