Newton Aycliffe FC will be getting in the spirit of Non League Day on Saturday 7 October by offering a “Pay What You Want” entry to Moore Lane. Aycliffe will be entertaining Ryhope Colliery Welfare in an Ebac Northern League Division One fixture.
The national Non League Day has grown steadily over recent seasons & will be taking place on an International weekend when there are no Premier League or Championship games. So, fans of Sunderland, Newcastle or Middlesbrough (or anyone else!) have the chance to take in their local grassroots football team.
The game against Ryhope comes at a time when Aycliffe have shown an improvement in form. The Newtonians won 2-0 at Bishop Auckland last week while they narrowly lost out 2-1 to league leaders Morpeth on Saturday. Even Morpeth’s manager acknowledged that Aycliffe deserved to take a point away from Craik Park.
A midweek game against Shildon, fresh from their excellent FA Cup performance at Banbury, will be another tough test for Danny Mellanby and Deano Browne’s Aycliffe team. They then move on to Moore Lane on Saturday 7th October to face Ryhope.
Prior to the game Aycliffe will be hosting a community event for our local junior teams and we hope as many people as possible will turn out at Moore Lane.
The Sports Club bar will be open from 12:00 with refreshments available from the ground “Bait Cabin” before and during the game.
Please come along and see what Non League football is all about & why Non League Day is becoming such an important fixture in the football calendar.
