I was at the annual talent show, Woodham’s Got Talent this week. It had a great turnout of participants as well as a full house. There was a great mix of singers, musicians and dancers as well as a young gymnast Daniel Wilkinson.
There was a female band headed by Meghan Cumming, with Sam Gittins on piano, bassist Callum Smith, Jonathan Jarvis & Lewis Walker playing guitar super entertainer Dylan Lumley on drums.
Anyone who has read my articles know I love live music, so to see Fran Porritt playing the piano as well as singing was a great treat. Other great musicians on the night were a solo performance by Sam Gittins on the piano, a cornet solo by Amy Taylor and a violin solo by the runner-up Zoe Efthymiadou.
A couple of solo singers were performing to live music which gets the big thumbs up off me, including an exceptional performance from Hannah Bussey. I am not a lover of backing tracks, as you can always find a musician willing to back you. Other singers included Millie Robson, the lovely Beth Clarkson, a good song by Eva Efstathiou, the third place Charlotte McAdam, Keira Durham with a lovely song and last but not least Jade Cutler.
Some talented dancing from duo Amy Corking & Katie Leadbitter, solo dancer Charlotte Lough, dance duo Joanne Cunliffe & Kira Watson as well as Maddie Ford & Elissa Collins and the solo dancer and competition winner Lauren Towell.
While waiting for the judges to decide we were entertained by a lovely rendition of ‘On My Own’ by Stacey Cant and a Staff act that made the whole place laugh. I am sure we will be seeing lots more of all these act in the coming years, maybe as part of the Aycliffe Young Talent Project or other Woodham shows.
