Gkr Karate World Cup took place at the Echo Arena in Liverpool last weekend. 1200 competitors came from around the world to compete in the 3 day event and it was awesome to watch and take part.
It was very tiring but spirits were up and we all did our best with Dez Tinkler coming 4th out of 32 competetors in his black belt division. Jenny Smith came tenth, Asa Fletcher seventh.
Annalise Tinkler in the new division for 18-34 yr old was the youngest competitor. She was beaten in her Kata in the second round by ex world champ three flags to two. She was very strong and won Kumite in her first 3 fights but lost her 4th by half a point to finish 4th in the world. Jada Holden was 4th in her Kata and won bronze in her Kumite in the 12-13 yrs division  3rd Kyu brown belt and above.  We are all very pleased how we finished and it’s back to training for the next World Cup in Australia in 2 years time.
Sensei Dez Tinkler said “Everybody was nervous but did what they had to do and I’m very proud of them all to finish in the top 10 in the world – they were all awesome and it was a great weekend
