Jake Mendelsohn, a 12 year old Woodham Academy pupil from Newton Aycliffe came 2nd in the Aycliffe 3k Fun Run on Sunday 21st June. The winner was a 15 year old from Durham Harriers.
This is a real achievement for Jake who doesn’t really run much any more. He did run for Sedgefield Harriers but now plays water polo for Sedgefield Water Polo Club which takes up a lot of his time and so running was put on the back burner. However, it’s a real testament to the training provided by the Water Polo Club that he is still fit enough to complete a 3k run in 13 minutes without doing any training.
