We are delighted to be working with the Aycliffe Local History Society to contribute to a public exhibition and publication taking place at Aycliffe Village Hall in September that commemorates the centenary of World War One.
All of Year 8 at Greenfield were inspired by a presentation of information and WW1 objects last week to help them get started on their project. The students will be working on a cross curricular project over the next few months which will begin in Art and Design.
Students will consider the work of artists such as Joseph Cornell and Leo Kaplan to create their own containers that represent a person or situation from WW1.
They will then use these to inspire some creative writing in English to produce work towards the publication and in History they will be using digital technology and enquiry methods to discover how WW1 affected the local area.
Thank you to the Aycliffe local history society for inviting us to be part of this great work which has allowed Greenfield to do an exciting piece of creative cross curricular work.
