Hannah Featherstone has been selected to represent Great Britain in the Junior Youth Olympics to be held in Holland during the 14th to the 19th July 2013. She will be competing in three events. The 100 meter Freestyle Team and the Medley Team and the Mixed Freestyle Team.
The situation surrounding the programme leading up to this event has been very unusual as we were forbidden by the British Olympic Association to let any one know until the 4th July.
As always the squad responded well to the change in emphasis in training without knowing why. My sincere thanks to them as this selection reflects the work put in by them, as well as the committee and all the staff at the Leisure Centre without whose help and support this would not have been possible.
Michael Ondrej who is one of the Masters Group training with A Squad has been selected as part of the Great Britain Aqua-thon Team. Congratulations!!
Owen Wheeler who competed in the York University Gala came away with two Gold Medals and set new record times in the 100 & 50 meter Breaststroke,
Elisabeth Yaneski also in the Masters Group competed in the Northumberland & Durham Championships and won Gold in the 400 meter freestyle and Silver in the 25 Meter Butterfly
Mathew Bradley competed at Tynemouth Open Gala.
This was his first competition in over a year following a knee injury sustained while running. The results were truly amazing. He competed in the 100 Fly,50 Breast.200 IM, 50 Back 200 FS and the 50 FS. He won Gold in all six events. The swims in the 50 Fly and 100 FS produced two silver medals. All of the swims were new best times.
