Tesco would like to thank all their customers who very kindly donated food to their National Foodbank event which was held in store on the 1st and 2nd December.
Tesco in Newton Aycliffe asked customers to donate goods from a shopping list of day to day staple goods such as Long Life Milk, Pasta, Cereals, Tinned food, sugar etc. This food was sent to the Foodbank to be distributed to people in need from within the local area.
I am delighted to say that through the tremendous generosity of our customers we had enough food to provide 5,257 meals for people in our community. This included a 30% top up from Tesco against everything that was donated.
This was a National Tesco event with over 800 stores involved and over 2 million meals was provided nationally. Due to the resounding success we plan to hold the event again next year.
Once again thank you to everyone who donated so generously and to making a real difference to people’s lives.
Finally may I wish all our customers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and thank you for your loyal custom.
