On Sunday 5th October, eight members of ‘CrossFit All Out’ in Newton Aycliffe took part in a national competition Thorium Throwdown, held at Peterlee Pavilion – and over 30 more members went along to support.
With the most members representing any one CrossFit box at the event, the pressure was on – but with an army of fellow members supporting, it was a great day with some great results!
Kelly Jones has recently become a Coach at CrossFit All Out and won herself joint 2nd place in the Masters (over 40’s) division.
For the men’s division unfortunately Coach Tim Briggs had to withdraw but Terry Anderson, Owner and Head Coach came 6th, followed by Coach Joe Allinson in 10th and Coach Ash McFee in 13th.
Ladies division saw Natalie Stapleton come in 17th place along with Nicola Jacques at 31 and Yasmin Meite at 35 – both of whom have only been doing CrossFit since January this year, so did exceptionally well to qualify and complete all 4 gruelling workouts!
Terry said “The support on the day from some of our CrossFit All Out members was immense. Everyone has worked so hard this year and this was our first big event outside of the gym – so being one of the youngest CrossFit boxes there, we were extremely proud of how well our athletes did. It was a great achievement and we look forward to many more in the future.”
