Wednesday the 25th of March saw Flight Sergeant McCormack of 1407 (Newton Aycliffe) Squadron Air Cadets head to St. James’s Palace to collect his Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award.
At the ceremony Flight Sergeant McCormack was presented with his certificate by Levison Wood (famous for walking the length of the River Nile) alongside His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh.
He also had the pleasure of meeting Commandant of Air Cadets Dawn McCafferty.
The Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is highly sort after when applying for jobs and stands you out from the crowd. To achieve the Award Flight Sergeant McCormack undertook multiple activities from a four day expedition in the Cheviot Hills to a week long camp at DTE Warcop alongside months of sport, volunteering and learning a new skill.
