James Lepoidevin (16), who trains at Newton Aycliffe Boxing Club has been accepted onto the Sport England Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme.
James, who is on the England Boxing Team, has two National titles to his name.
This scholarship will enable him to attend courses on subjects such as sport psychology, nutrition, strength and conditioning and physiotherapy. James will also receive funding to help towards his sports equipment and travelling expenses.
