Adam Ord (right) will be travelling to the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham next month to compete in the English Schools Athletics Championships. Newtonian Adam, 14, who attends Greenfield Community College, became County Junior Boys 800m Champion at Jarrow Stadium on the 10th June – qualifying for the Inter-Counties in Hexham. He looked strong in his event, ran on the 17th June, and finished in the Regions Top 2 (behind the UK No. 1 Ranking Guest runner).
His hard work with Durham City Harriers, and resulting level of success on the Track this season, has been recognised in his selection to represent Durham County Schools Athletic Association, as a member of the squad they will be taking to the major championships. Adam is looking forward to this challenge and experience and would like to thank Greenfield Community College and staff, and his coach George Reid – for their continued support and encouragement. Good Luck Adam!
