This weekend the Parish of Great Aycliffe is going to be visited by a host of angels – who are of course God’s messengers. Some 150 of them will be small knitted angels – as you can see in the photograph – and some of them are going to be Church of England Bishops visiting some of the exciting happenings, the churches in Aycliffe are putting on, over the weekend. This is part of the Talking Jesus event which is taking place across Durham Diocese. Keep an eye open for the angels – and why not come along and see what’s going on? On Friday afternoon between 1.30 and 4.00pm there’s a chance to ask BIG QUESTIONS in Aycliffe Village Hall, over delicious home-made cakes.
You can take a short walk up to historic St Andrew’s Church and have a look around, where there will be live organ music playing. On Friday evening attention shifts to The Huntsman Pub in Woodham where There’s Room at the Inn, and a chance to chat over a free buffet. On Saturday afternoon families are warmly invited to come to St Clare’s for Messy Journeys – craft activities, singing and stories, food and drink. And of course everyone is welcome to attend one of our Sunday morning services (9.30am at St Elizabeth’s; 10.00am at St Clare’s; 11.00am at St Andrew’s) where there will be visiting preachers from the Bishops’ teams.
