Does your company provide care and support for the vulnerable? Do you deserve recognition for your hard work in providing the highest levels of service and choice?
Durham County Council is seeking nominations for its Awards for Personalisation 2013.
The annual honours celebrate excellence across the care and support sector, recognising those organisations that offer members of the public the most choice and control over the help they receive.
Cllr Morris Nicholls, Durham County Council’s Cabinet member for adult services, said: “Ensuring people have choice over the type of care services they receive is extremely important in enabling them to retain control over their lives.
“These awards recognise the commitment of the many organisations that work hard to offer that choice to older and vulnerable people across the county while also providing the highest levels of care and support.”
The awards, which have been running for three years, are free to enter and are open to care providers of all sizes.
Prizes will be awarded in the following five categories:
• Best example of personalised services in a community setting
Awarded to the organisation that most empowers people using community services by offering them the greatest choice and control.
• Best example of personalised services in a building-based setting
Awarded to the organisation that most empowers people who live in a residential setting or attend services at a care venue by offering them the greatest choice and control.
• Best example of innovation in a personalised service
Awarded to the organisation that best demonstrates innovation in the delivery of its services.
• Best example of ‘co-production’ within service delivery
Awarded to the organisation that best involves people in how its services are created, planned and delivered.
• Best example of personalised services nominated by health or social care staff
Awarded to the organisation, which has been nominated by a health/social care member of staff for its commitment to empowering people who use its services.
The Awards for Personalisation are open to private, independent and voluntary sector organisations of any size, which provide services for people living in County Durham.
Entry forms are available from www.durham.gov.uk and should be sent to personalisation@durham.gov.uk
The closing date for nominations, which should be no longer than 1,000 words, is Friday, 23 August.
