Hardworking town volunteer, Dorothy Bowman, receiving the Health and Well-being Award at the County Durham Volunteering Awards held at Hardwick Hall.
Dorothy volunteers with several groups in Newton Aycliffe, including New Friends, New Places, New Pathways Together, and the Junior Neighbourhood Watch. She always gets things done, and was instrumental in providing the Aycliffe Community Bus that is used by local groups. Her work and campaigning led to the creation of two multi-purpose Play Areas for young children.
She also set up the New Friends New Places group to provide a safe warm venue for older people to meet and enjoy a range of social activities. Dorothy recently established New Pathways Together, a group for people suffering from Dementia. She is an inspiration, working endlessly to support the health & wellbeing of others.
