Football training sessions are being held in leisure centres across County Durham during the autumn. The sessions, organised by Durham County Council, include Micro Soccer for younger children aged 3 to 5 years and On the Ball junior football coaching for 5 to 14 year olds (upper age limit depending on venue).

The courses, which cost £2.50 for one hour and £4.00 for two hours, are aimed at helping youngsters – including the most inexperienced players – to learn football skills and build their confidence in a fun and exciting environment.

Football skills training sessions are being held throughout the autumn at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre, 5-11 years, Mondays, 4.30pm-5.30pm

Durham County Council’s Neil Trainor, who co-ordinates the On the Ball sessions, said: “Junior skills coaching is an excellent way to improve your football talents or learn new techniques, whilst enjoying time with friends.

All coaches are qualified to a minimum of FA Level 2 in Football Coaching and each week there will be a range of fun contests to get involved with including the cross bar challenge and target shoot outs.”
