Pupils from an Aycliffe School have embraced a photography challenge organised by Tyne Tees SEN branch of Teaching Personnel. The school at the North East Centre for Autism, Newton Aycliffe entered the local competition to encourage pupils to use photography as a way of expressing themselves and to engage in a community project.
Each entry was a single photograph, encompassing the theme ‘Change’. Published photographer and Theatre Royal representative, Anthony Dorman, judged the challenge and presented awards to Lauren Stephens (aged 19) – 1st prize, Cameron Smith (aged 15) – 2nd prize and Emily Stoker (aged 15) – 3rd prize. Anthony said; “The quality of the photographs were excellent and you can tell a lot of thought went into each and every photograph taken.”
Each pupil received an award and framed picture of their photo. Winning photos will be displayed in the head office at Teaching Personnel.
Neil Clarke, Branch Manager at Tyne Tees SEN Branch said “It’s been a complete and utter pleasure working with the pupils at Aycliffe School. The photographs have been framed and put in our office which has really brightened it up, so thanks so much to all the students who contributed.”
