It has been a very busy summer for Members with a number of races taking place with some Members even heading overseas to take part in an event.
On Sunday 7 August, an incredible 34 members took part in the SG Petch Darlington 10k. First back for the club in his best 10k time for a while was Paul Dalton in a time of 36:13. This also helped Paul to come back in third place for the Male over 45 category. Second back for the club was Gareth Kyle finishing in a time of 36:35. He was followed by Richard Campbell in a time of 37:39. Next back was Stuart Joyce finishing in a time of 41:01. He was closely followed by Robert Young in a time of 42:01. Next to finish was Matt Muir in a time of 41:36. He was followed by Martyn Knox who finished in a time of 44:29. Daniel Tatham was next back, finishing in a time of 45:13. Richard Holland was next home, finishing in a time of 45:49. He was followed by Dave Blewitt, who finished in a time of 47:26. Next back was Kevin Tatham finishing in a time of 48:34. He was closely followed by Shaun Dodds in a time of 49:22. Next back and first female for the club was Trish Kay in a time of 52:07. She was followed by David Stothard in a time of 52:47 and John Burnside who finished in a time of 53:38. Jayne Rudd was next back, finishing in a time of 53:46. She was followed by Kieran Wright who finished in a time of 55:45. He was closely followed by Samantha Harding who finished in a time of 55:47. Next back was Laura Grainger who finished in a time of 56:46. Steph Colvin was next back, finishing in a time of 57:07. She was followed by Martin Fenwick who finished in a time of 57:59. Heather Fenwick was next back, finishing in a time of 58:12. She was followed by Yvonne Blewitt who finished in a time of 1:00:14 with Beverley Phillippo next back in a time of 1:00:30. Next back was Kirsty Cameron who finished in a time of 1:00:50. Richard Tonge was next back, finishing in a time of 1:01:45. He was followed by Judith Porter who finished in a time of 1:02:46. Next back was Eve Doe who finished in a time of 1:03:40. She was followed by Denise Evans in a time of 1:04:31. Tracey Pickering was next back, in a time of 1:14:52, closely followed by Cliff Pickering in a time of 1:17:25. Next back was Jane Burnside, finishing in a time of 1:17:54. She was followed by Ian Stothard in a time of 1:24:15.
On Wednesday 10 August, one member took part in the Muddy Roads Trail Series Race 5 at Newham Grange Farm. Dave Stothard completed the course in a time of 27:35.
At the same time, a number of Members took part in the Quayside 5k. First back for the club was Paul Dalton, finishing in a time of 17:32. He was closely followed by John Surtees in a time of 17:35. Next back was Richard Campbell in a time of 18:45. He was followed by Stuart Joyce in a time of 19:08. Trevor Needham was next back in a time of 19:25. He was followed by Jayne Rudd in a new Personal Best for the distance of 24:35. Next back was Carley Gibson finishing in a time of 28:48.
On Saturday 13 August, three Members took part in the Gateshead Trail 10k. First back for the club was Trish Kay in a time of 54:28 and third place in the female veteran 60 category. Next back was Carley Gibson, finishing in a time of 1:03:11. She was followed by Eve Doe, who finished in a time of 1:05:57.
On Sunday 14 August, two members took part in the Branches and Bay 10k. This started in the local village of Hawthorn, with the route taking you through the Durham Wildlife Trust and National Trust managed woodland of Hawthorn Dene, before heading to the Bays of Hawthorn Hive and The Blast Beach. The race featured 223 feet of ascent. Richard Campbell was first back for the club in a time of 48:54, followed by Richard Tonge in a time of 1:25:59.
On Wednesday 17 August, saw the sixth race in the Darlington Trail Series with a 5k run at South Park. There were 8 members taking part in the run with Paul Dalton first back for the club in third place, finishing in a time of 15:29. Second back was Daniel Tatham, finishing in a time of 19:56. He was followed Clare Stradling (20:56) and David Stothard in a time of 23:22. Next back was Melanie Rowland, finishing in a time of 25:59, followed by Cliff Pickering in a time of 31:15 and Tracey Pickering in a time of 31:24. Ian Stothard was next back in a time of 33:29.
On 20 August, two Members took part in the South Park 10 mile event with Steph Colvin completing the course in a time of 1:34:38. Michaela Kerr also took part, finishing in a time of 1:36:38.
On the same day Carly Cooper took part in the very scenic Reykjavik Half Marathon in Iceland. She finished the course in a time of 2:13:25.
At the same time Andy Talbot was competing in the Trimpell 20 which is a 20 mile run through the historic City of Lancaster and the stunning Lancashire Lune Valley countryside. Andy completed the run in an excellent time of 2:23:50 finishing first place in the Veteran 60 category.
Thursday 25 August, saw the return of the popular NYMAC Tom Wall relays which saw teams of four competing one mile each at Stewart’s Park in Middlesbrough. As always, the club was represented by a number of teams. The first team back consisted of Dez Fielden (5:09) which was a new Club Record for the Mile for the over 50 category, Paul Dalton (5:16), Floyd Jones (5:43) and Richard Campbell 5:27 for a total time of 21:35. Next back was the team of Stuart Joyce (5:40), Andy Talbot (5:59), Trevor Needham (6:22) and John Firby (5:24) for a total time of 23:25. The third team back for the club saw Richard Holland (6:20), Dave Blewitt (6:33), Alan Wilks (7:19) and Matt Muir (5:46) finish in a total time of 25:58. The next team of Shaun Dodds (6:30), James Wilson (8:48), David Stothard (6:58) and Gareth Hamblin (5:45) finished in a total time of 28:01. They were closely followed by a team consisting of Michelle Scott (6:19), Jayne Rudd (7:32), Michaela Kerr (7:34) and Lauryn Hellewell (6:38) finishing in a time of 28:03. The final team for the club of Samantha Harding (7:56), Steph Colvin (7:47), Yvonne Blewitt (8:30) and Kirsty Cameron (8:32) finished in a time of 32:45.
On 28 August, a number of runners took part in the Stanhope 10 miler which was a very hilly run across the tops near Stanhope. At the time of writing the results from the race are unavailable.
On 31 August two members took part in the Muddy Roads Trimdon 5k which was the sixth race in the 2022 Summer Trail Series. First back for the club was Alan Wilks in a time of 27:07. He was followed by David Stothard in a time of 29:19.
On Sunday 4 September, four members took part in the Tholthorpe 10k in North Yorkshire. Paul Dalton was first back for the club coming back in a time of 49:22. Next back was Clare Stradling who finished in a time of 49:17. She was followed by Jayne Rudd who finished in a time of 56:01. She was closely followed by Stephanie Colvin who finished in a time of 56:16.
On the same day, 11 members took part in the Run for All Middlesbrough 10k. First back for the club and third in the Male Veteran 50 category was Dez Fielden who finished in a time of 37:00. Second back was Dave Blewitt who continued with his return from injury finishing in a time of 46:26. He was followed by Kevin Tatham who finished in a time of 49:12. Next back was Richie Johnson in a time of 50:53. Was closely followed by Trish Kay who finished in a time of 51:12. Samantha Harding was next back in a time of 57:45, followed by Carley Gibson in a time of 59:04 Kirsty Cameron was next back in a time of 1:01:20, closely followed by Yvonne Blewitt in a time of 1:02:55. Next back was Eve Doe in a time of 1:04:29 with Ian Stothard next back in a time of 1:14:13.
