Richard Harvey, who is a member of Aycliffe Running Club, recently competed in the British Masters’ Track & Field Championships at Derby and came back with gold.
Richard is one of the club’s most senior members and in his younger days was a sub 3 hour marathoner, but now specialises veterans track races.
Running in the over 70s 800m he went into the lead at the start and steadily pulled away to win in 2:56.24. Over 9 seconds clear of the 2nd finisher and his fastest time since 2008. Well worth the journey.
