Saturday, 5th December is the date for your diary’s as Athena’s Annual Christmas Showcase takes to the floor at the Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre. This event, in its 4th year is always well supported and after last years near sell out, people are advised to get their tickets early to avoid disappointment. The club has over 180 gymnasts with a wide range of ages and skills, from our pre-school rec classes to our Tumbling and Acro classes, and many of these Gymnasts will be performing at the showcase on the day. Each year the club brings a theme to the proceedings and this year is no difference, “Number 1 Hits” will see each class perform their routines to some brilliant hits from throughout the decades, and I’m sure it will leave everyone watching, tapping away to the music. This year, the club will have its very own VIP guest, as the Mayor of Great Aycliffe, Councillor Mrs Mary Dalton, will be guest of honour of the club.
To add to the entertainment throughout the afternoon we will also have some of our older gymnasts performing their competition routines to which they will be competing at a Regional Competition hoping to win a place in the National Finals early next year. The club will also be performing 2 superb routines which they did at Gymfusion 2015 at The Sage in Gateshead in front of an audience of over 800. These heart-pounding displays are not to be missed and got some rave revues at The Sage and will leave you wanting more.
This event will have something for all the family and as well as the Displays there is fun for all the family with many different activities including Raffles, Craft Stalls, Merchandise, Sweet and Chocolate Tombola, cake stalls and much more.
