People in County Durham are being urged to make sure they are registered to vote. County and parish council elections will take place across the country on Thursday, 2nd May and anyone wishing to vote at these elections needs to be on the electoral register.

To find out if you are registered, or to request a registration form, contact Durham County Council electoral services on 03000 26 12 12 or email electoralservices@durham.gov.uk.

Anyone who is listed on the electoral register can request a postal vote. You should also contact the electoral services team to apply for a postal vote.

The deadline for returning registration forms and postal vote applications is Wednesday, 17 April.

Anyone who would like to stand as a candidate in the council or parish elections should contact the electoral services team. The deadline for nominations is noon on Friday, 5 April
