National Apprenticeship Week is set to take place from Monday 6 until Sunday 12 February and will see a celebration of apprenticeships throughout the country.

To help mark this, Darlington Jobs Fair will be offering details on apprentice opportunities locally when it takes place on Thursday 9 February, 10am-2pm, at the Dolphin Centre.

Teams from Darlington’s Learning and Skills and Youth Employment Initiative (YEI) as well as a dedicated stand from the council’s Human Resources department, will be on hand to give more details on courses and vacancies for apprenticeships.

Darlington Jobs Fair is a free event aimed at anyone of any age looking for work or a career change. More than 70 stalls from a wide range of employers and training providers will be there offering face to face advice.

In addition, there will be free workshops from Google Digital Garage on CV skills and career goals and a workshop with Darlington Economic Campus on local opportunities within the Civil Service.

A new language and translation support hub will also be available to offer help to those who need it.

Councillor Jamie Bartch, Darlington Borough Council’s cabinet member for economy, said:

“We have a longstanding tradition of taking on apprenticeships within the council and this has proved to be for many a successful springboard to a career with us.

“Apprenticeships offer the chance to blend academic learning with on the job training where students are paid to learn as well as gaining valuable workplace experience. I urge anyone who might be considering an apprenticeship to come along to the Jobs Fair and have a chat with our teams.”

The Jobs Fair is a free drop in event, places on workshops need to be booked in advance and can be booked by searching “Darlington Jobs Fair” on Eventbrite https://bit.ly/3HBYWyw
