Chief Swimming Coach John Moore, from Aycliffe was crowned the overall winner of the Northern Echo Local Hero’s Award which was held at Wynyard Hall on 7th December.
John also won the Sir Bobby Robson Leading Light award, and was lost for words when he found out he had won, and said he was humbled.
John attended the ceremony with other coaches and committee members from his club. This added to a memorable few months for John as he had a surprise 80th Birthday Party in October and was presented with the coveted Gray Award at the start of November for his services to swimming.
