Continuing the long tradition, inaugurated by the Rotary Club and organised for many years by Syd Howarth, the Annual Community Christmas Concert took place on Tuesday 10th December at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre.
Children, family and friends attended the main hall for a fantastic afternoon of entertainment and a community sing-a-long of traditional and not so traditional Christmas Carols.
The programme included sterling and varied performances from the schools of, Aycliffe Village, Vane Road, Woodham Academy, St. Mary’s and St Josephs, Horndale, and Greenfield Community Arts College.
Special thanks to Woodham Academy choir who helped in all the singing and especially in the ‘Shalom’ Round.
Christmas Greetings were given by Trish Pemberton on behalf of Rotary Newton Aycliffe and Mayor Mary Dalton thanked all the children, teachers and family for attending. Thanks also to John Melvin for audio, electrics etc.
The Rev Mike Dixon attempted jokes, compered the afternoon and gave the blessing.
