Peter and Terry Egglestone from Newton Aycliffe celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family and friends recently. The thoughtful couple asked that guests did not bring presents to the party but instead make a donation to Marie Curie. They presented a cheque for £445 to the Bishop Auckland Fundraising Group of Marie Curie at the local group’s recent meeting. The money raised will be used to provide ‘end of life care’ in the area. A spokesperson praised the couple’s decision and reminded anyone interested in supporting Marie Curie nurses that they meet on the first Tuesday of the month in the Community Fire Station of Watling Road in Bishop Auckland at 1.30pm. The group’s next venture is a Christmas Afternoon Tea on Sunday 11th December in West Auckland Memorial Hall 2.00 – 5.00pm. A sherry reception will be followed by afternoon tea and seasonal entertainment. Tickets priced £15 available from Elizabeth. Varley (01388) 606075. All welcome.
