On Sunday 4th September Middridge Allotments held their 4th Annual Social which was was well attended and enjoyed by all. The day included an excellent Barbecue, quizzes, games and very good chat.
Councillor John Clare judged the gardens in July but was unable to attend the prize giving, however, Councillor Joan Grey, kindly stepped in at short notice and presented the awards for 2016.
1st Prize for Best Garden went to Chris Holmes. His garden was described as an executive garden for leisure and growing with all the necessary components for composting and collecting water.
Two certificates for Highly Commended went to – Liz Dicker for a small, compact and very pretty garden, again with all the necessary components for composting and collecting water; Wilf & Paula Christon for a beautiful garden in every way.
The Great Working Allotment Certificate went to Carol and Ken Bainbridge which had everything. The Perfect Allotment certificate went to Jimmy T Walker. His garden was immaculate, well constructed with very healthy produce.
