Following their highly successful visit in 2014 The Pearl of Africa returns to the North East this month. This exciting touring choir is made up of 18 energetic young people aged 10 to 18 from Uganda who perform concerts and run workshops to help raise awareness and much needed funds to sustain and improve the standard of education, healthcare and living conditions in their schools.
The Choir is visiting St John’s School and Sixth Form College on Wednesday 30 September when they will be giving short presentations and running lively workshops in African song, dance, drumming and crafts. We will be welcoming children from some of our Primary feeder schools.
We are delighted that in the evening the choir will be giving a public concert, featuring some of the young people they have worked with earlier in the day. This begins at 6.30pm. Admission is free but donations on the night are welcome.
Please order your tickets in advance from St John’s School, either in person or on 01388 603 246. There will be an opportunity to purchase traditional hand-crafted products as well as refreshments.
Don’t miss this vibrant and energetic performance by an internationally acclaimed and talented group who deliver an exciting programme packed full of fun, fine vocals, drumming and dance! Perfect entertainment for all the family!
