After the success of the Cree Lodge at Greenfield Arts’ Winter Wonderland on 25th November, which brought together various handicraft skills to create a warming log cabin out of carpet rolls; a wonderful snowy mountain display out of folded paper and an inspiring light installation out of scaffolding; the Cree volunteers decided to spread the sparkle and warmth to the Greenfield Community College Sunnydale Campus in Shildon.
They worked tirelessly in the wind and rain, with the help of production manager Richard Agar, to prepare the metal structure, which replicates a leaping unicorn, for the roof. The structure is lit brilliantly with stage lights and a net of fairy lights which make up its tail, spreading across the side of the building.
Staff have said how brilliant it is as it brightens up their walk into work each day during the recent grey, dreary days. Arts Centre Director of Arts and Creativity, Katy Milne says “It is great to bring some sparkle and warmth with such a beautiful artistic piece and bring something positive and lovely to see, something which we at Greenfield Arts believes is important for all creative projects, courses, workshops and exhibitions.”
