The Police and Crime Panel for County Durham has confirmed Jon Carling as Acting Chief Executive of the Office of the Police, Crime and Victims’ Commissioner OPCVC.
The panel unanimously recommended approval of the proposal by Acting Police, Crime and Victims’ Commissioner Steve White.
Mr Carling, who is currently head of policy and communications for the (OPCVC), will take over the role on an interim basis from Mr White.
Mr White is currently Acting Police, Crime and Victims’ Commissioner following a request from Police, Crime and Victims’ Commissioner Ron Hogg, to the Police and Crime Panel to temporarily stand down from the post in September 2019 due to ill health.
Cllr Lucy Hovvels, Chair of the Police and Crime Panel, said: “The panel was satisfied with the appointment process undertaken by the Acting PCVC for this interim appointment.
“Panel members were impressed with the comprehensive responses provided by Jon and his wealth of experience and was, therefore, pleased to support the recommendation for his appointment.”
The Police and Crime Panel is made up of elected members from Durham County Council and Darlington Borough Council, alongside two co-opted independent members.
