Thursday 11th June sees the monthly meeting of ACORN Residents Association, incorporating little ACORNS and Woodham Burn Neighbourhood watch.
Proceedings commence with a meeting of the junior section at 5.30pm during which our young people make plans for summer events, express any concerns they may have and meet their friends.
At 6pm the main ACORN meeting convenes with local issues being discussed and Police reports revealed by our PCSO. With the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta almost upon us we will be completing plans for our celebratory Libertea event where we are inviting residents to come along and have a cup of tea and a cream scone with us. Games are being planned to entertain the children for the afternoon and displays telling the story of Magna Carta available. How much do you know about our liberty? Why not partake in our quiz for the chance to win a small prize.
Many thanks to our friends at livin housing for their help and financial support which will make a huge difference to our Magna Carta event and also to Vince Crosby of Youth and Community Centre for the loan of tables.
ACORN outings itinaries coordinators will be announcing and giving details of the next Coach trip out to York and relaying comments on the May outing to Cragside house.
Typically ACORN meetings are attended by town and county councillors who are available to answer your questions and give advice if they can. Other organisations are welcome to attend with the aim of sharing expertise and information with the community.
If you want to be involved in building a better community in Newton Aycliffe feel free to come along to the Royal British Legion for a warm welcome.
