To mark the Year of Faith St John’s School and Sixth Form College, A Catholic Academy in Bishop Auckland, commissioned local ceramics artist Christine Constant to work with a group of Sixth Form students to design and create new Stations of the Cross and altar candle holders for the school Chapel.
Before they began the design process the students spent some time reflecting on each Station. This allowed the students to relate to the Station they had chosen. The students and Christine were incredibly moved and inspired by the whole process especially since some of the students had no experience in ceramics.
On 3rd December, Bishop Seamus Cunningham visited St John’s to bless the new Stations of the Cross and was deeply impressed by the work of Christine and the students. The Stations of the Cross and candle holders are a legacy for the students who will be educated at St John’s in the years to come.
