Partners have really blossomed within the roots of Great Aycliffe Community Aid Partnership. Secretary Ron Mitchie swapped roles with Assistant Secretary Joan Clark recently and subsequently accepted his proposal of marriage. Ron and Joan met at Spennymoor at a CAVOS meeting in early March 2013. At that time Ron was secretary of Agnew Community Association and Joan was secretary of Newton Aycliffe Youth Centre.  Joan introduced Ron to XCEL church where they both attended. Joan joined Agnew Community Association in July 2014 and very soon took on the vacant post of Chairperson serving for a year. After leaving Agnew, their paths crossed again in August 2015 when Joan was ill and Ron offered welcome support.  Subsequently they both started to attend Life Church each Thursday at Greenfield School.  It was there on 1st July 2016 in front of the congregation that Ron asked Joan to marry him. The wedding took place on 22nd August at Darlington Registry office with Joan’s daughter Samantha Brittle and Ron’s friend Ken Fox as witnesses.  On 10th September Susan Sadler, Pastor of Life Church, conducted a beautiful blessing at Darlington Golf Club. Pastor Geoff Walvin of Harvest  Christian Church, who meet every Sunday at the Bethany Centre in Woodham, opened and closed the ceremony in prayer. Ron was keen to show all his name in gold lettering up on the wall of the Member’s Bar as the winner of the Golf Club Victory Cup way back in 1985.
