Dear Sir,
Are the people of Great Aycliffe fully aware of the Town Council’s decision to make a hostile takeover bid of a large part of Middridge Parish, known as Eldon Whins, even though our Parish Council objected from the beginning?  This bullying tactic can only be put down to ‘money grabbing’, as this area of Middridge Parish has been designated for housing on the County Durham Plan. A petition is being circulated for residents in Aycliffe, to sign up to this ‘land grab’. Before you decide whether you will sign up to this, please give some thought to its implications. Perhaps we should get Middridge to annex Byerley Park and Greenfield in the same way, seeing as historically these areas were part of Middridge Parish!
