Dear Sir,
Hardly a day goes by when you switch on the news and there isn’t something about serving Police Officers having committed atrocities.
Fortunately not for us in the north east as this has been mainly limited to the Metropolitan and Greater Manchester Police Forces. But, what about Durham Constabulary?
I have rarely had any dealings with them until recently. On the evening of 31st January or the early hours of 1st February, we had a garden ornament stolen. I reported this theft to the Police on 2nd February.
This may seem like an incident of low priority in the big scheme of things but the item in question was a stone windmill, some two foot tall, quite heavy, which had belonged to my wife’s late mother and were it not for the sentimental attachment, I probably would have not reported it.
To cut to the chase, the Police returned the item to us at around 9.20pm on Sunday evening. Apart from being extremely grateful for its return, I cannot fault the speed with which our local Police reacted. So, for once, there is good news about the Police, our local Police and the praise is well deserved.
I never really believed our Government’s promise when it came to Levelling Up, and I am so pleased that they have failed miserably with it, if it means we can keep the behaviour of our Police rather than it being brought in-line with the behaviour of the Police Forces from down South. I send my sincere thanks to Durham Constabulary and wish them all the best in their servitude to the Public.
