This week our President David Hogg made a surprise visit to the Newton Aycliffe home of fundraiser and local hero, Bill Cooksey. The reason for this was to present Bill with the highest honour that Rotary can bestow, a Paul Harris Fellow, for services to the community.
His amazing military career was documented in the Newton News last February as was his outstanding 100 mile walk to raise money for NHS charities.
Rotary has now recognised his achievements with a Paul Harris Fellow, and it was an honour to meet Bill and share in some of his memories. He is indeed an engaging character and richly deserves the award.
Keep up the great work Bill.
