A massive thank you to everyone who joined us last week at Newton Aycliffe Big Club. We had a little piece of Daz on stage with his scarves from his European adventures following Newcastle United.
There are so many people who have given me support since we started arranging this fundraising event. I set myself a target of being able to buy a further five portable defibrillators to donate to local teams. This figure has been blown out of the water with the support of bids, random donations that we did not expect and sponsorships that we received from local companies.
My aim is to install another fixed defibrillator on the Business Park, which is now more than achievable.
The final amount raised from the event is not yet counted but I am more than confident this figure will exceed £10,000. I am completely overwhelmed and feeling quite emotional (and this is an understatement).
I think most people know me well enough to know that I’m already thinking about where we go from here? However, I am going to try and relax and look back on what we have achieved as a community and, if we can help save even one life, it will be all worth it.
