Spectrum skater, Jazzmyn Loring has been selected to skate in an international event in France in November.
Jazzmyn, aged 12, who trains at Sunnydale Leisure Centre, Shildon, had success earlier in the year achieving a silver medal in Nationals and the title of Vice Champion at the Espoir Ladies Free Skating British Championships, both held at Breydon Arena in Great Yarmouth.
Jazzmyn’s passion for roller skating began aged 4 when her mum brought her along to lessons at Spectrum Roller Skating Club. At just four years old Jazzmyn announced she wanted to skate for GB and now, eight years later, her dreams are coming true!
She has previously been selected for international competition in 2019. When lockdown happened Jazzmyn and her club continued to train whenever and wherever they could. The hard work and dedication has paid off! She has been selected by GB Skate Artistic to compete in Interland Cup, France.
“Jazzmyn’s natural ability combined with her resilience, courage and determination are key ingredients to building a champion,” explained coach Tracy Stevens who has trained Jazzmyn for the last eight years. “She’s come a long way and I’m privileged to have such a fantastic role model to inspire young skaters coming through the ranks.”
“We are looking for sponsorship and any support with donations for fundraisers. As artistic roller skating is self funded, both athlete and coach are expected to find the money for all flights, travel, accommodation, fees and even Team GB kit.”
Spectrum Coach Tracy has set up a Go Fund Me page and would appreciate any support. The club are also launching ‘Jars for Jazzmyn’ where they are asking people to keep their spare change in jars for Jazzmyn. If any businesses or organisations would like to get involved please do get in touch with Tracy 07891 461958.
