Silent Santa Appeal
Ruth and I are planning for this year’s Silent Santa Appeal so, we are going ahead once again in the belief that whatever is donated in these troubled times it will bring happiness to a child. We are open to receive Christmas gifts from October 17th ending December 9th 2022. This gives us a little time to sort the gifts into age groups before delivering them. To help us, please label your presents showing the age of the child 4-5, 6-7, 8-9, 10-11 and whether it is for a girl or a boy. Thank you.
Doctor’s Surgery
I have had a few comments about the extension of our West Green Surgery from the many people who I emailed the drawings to so, unless I hear otherwise, I must assume that the plans to extend our West Green Doctor’s Surgery is acceptable. A Planning Application will be submitted to DBC in the near future and once DBC have processed the Application, there will be a further opportunity to make your thoughts known to the Council’s Planning Department before a decision is made.
Footpaths and Visibility Splays
Greenhill Road Footpath – will be upgraded starting in November.
Poor visibility on the Bypass roundabout. I have had DBC cut back the trees and shrubs followed by a second more severe cut to make it safer for all.
Redworth Road Heighington footpath – Work will commence in the third week of October to remove the debris to make the effective width of the path wider and thus more user friendly.
Walworth Road and Kieran Maxwell Housing Estates
Unhappy residents have complained about the landscaping on both new estates. I have met with the Technical Director from Bellways and he is looking at ways to answer the complaints and I am trying to match up diaries for a meeting to take place with Esh.
Proclamation
My thanks goes to Holly White for organising the ‘Proclamation’ of our new King Charles Third on the Village Green on Sunday 11th September. Holly did a wonderful job of erecting a gazebo, providing a microphone, which worked, and bringing so many people together to witness this historic Proclamation. My thanks also goes to everyone who turned out and listened to the Proclamation being read out and sang the National Anthem, for our new King, so well.
