As part of their learning, health and social care students are studying the aims and purposes of Health Promotion.  In recent lessons they have undertaken the task of researching health risks including the recent outbreak of measles in Swansea and the North East and role of immunisation programmes in reducing these health risks.

In this unit they have to imagine themselves playing the role of a Health Advisor and so have to evaluate different resources used my professionals such as Alcohol Awareness and Smoking Cessation resources.  The resources have enabled the students to have a real “hands on” experience and deepen their understanding of a complex topic. Tricia Stewart (The Hub) and Franceene  Birbeck (Youth Centre) will be delivering sessions to students on how to plan and prepare health workshops.
