100 year old William Cooksey is once again raising funds for our local NHS, in the summer of 2021 he walked 100 miles, this time he will cycle 20 miles a day (Monday to Friday) for 10 weeks making a total of 1000 miles cycled.
Bill started this incredible feat on Wednesday 1st June and aims to finish on Wednesday 10th August, shortly before his 101st birthday.
The front page image shows William with MP, Paul Howell, who was delighted to see the start of Bill’s new challenge.
Paul Howell said “This extraordinary man is at it again. After his amazing efforts last year walking 100 miles, now he is cycling 1000 miles to raise more money for our NHS. At over 100 years of age he is truly inspiring.”
Mr Cooksey’s route will start from his own front door taking him through the town and down the old railway line towards Shildon.
If you see Bill on his trike, give him a wave or a cheer, this is going to be a fantastic achievement, especially for a 100 year old.
